The Gonds traditionally painted on mud walls of their houses. More recently they have taken to painting on canvas or paper using new colors and themes. One of the largest tribal sources of art in South Asia, the Gonds, are mainly found in Madhya Pradesh and its surrounding States. Gond paintings depict folk stories, religion, nature in bright colors and intricate detail.
